Something changed in President Donald Trump on that fateful day in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The attempt on his life did more than shake the political world—it deepened his faith in God.

“I believed in God, but I feel much more strongly about it now. Something happened,” he said. It was a moment of clarity, the kind that turns a man’s heart towards God. And Trump isn’t just talking about his faith—he’s acting on it. He has signed an executive order establishing a faith office, ensuring that religious liberty remains a priority in his administration. More than that, he’s standing against the growing anti-Christian bias in America.

That bias has never been clearer. Pro-life advocates are arrested, homeschooling families are scrutinized and parents who push back against radical policies find themselves targeted. But Trump’s renewed faith reminds us of something essential—this country was built on the faith of its leaders. Before him, many presidents openly embraced their belief in God, and their leadership was shaped by it.

Faithful Presidents Who Came Before Trump

  • George Washington – In his farewell address, he warned that religion and morality were “indispensable supports” to America’s success. He knew that without God, the nation would falter.
  • John Adams – Declared that the Constitution was made “only for a moral and religious people” and would not work for any other.
  • Thomas Jefferson – Though often misrepresented as a secularist, he attended church services in the U.S. Capitol and said, “God who gave us life gave us liberty.”
  • Abraham Lincoln – Instituted “In God We Trust” on U.S. currency and frequently referenced divine providence in his speeches, believing that America’s survival depended on faith.
  • Ulysses S. Grant – Called for “acknowledging dependence upon Almighty God” in his presidential proclamations.
  • Teddy Roosevelt – Spoke openly about his Christian faith, regularly attended church, and saw religion as the moral compass of the nation.
  • Franklin D. Roosevelt – Distributed Gideon’s New Testaments to millions of World War II soldiers, ensuring they carried the Word of God into battle.
  • Harry Truman – Established the National Day of Prayer as an annual event, reinforcing America’s reliance on God.
  • Dwight Eisenhower – Added “under God” to the Pledge of Allegiance and included a prayer in his inaugural address.
  • John F. Kennedy – Declared that “the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.”
  • Ronald Reagan – A champion of pro-life values, he compared the fight against abortion to Lincoln’s fight against slavery, arguing that a nation cannot stand if it denies life to the unborn.
  • George H.W. Bush – Opened his presidency with prayer and continued to speak about the necessity of faith in public life.
  • Jimmy Carter – Often quoted Micah 6:8: “What does the Lord require of thee but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?”

From Washington to Trump, the message has remained the same—faith is not an afterthought; it is the foundation of the nation. Those who attempt to erase Christianity from public life are attacking the very pillars that hold America together.
