Me in Motion | Centricity Music

Life took a big turn for Seth Mosley after high school. He was all set to study music in Nashville, Tenn., but when he was offered a production job in Ohio, he jumped at the chance. But the long days of working made him realize he is an artist at heart.

“I had so many songs in my head screaming to be heard. I didn’t care if it was ever a big commercial success or not. I just knew I couldn’t spend the next 20 years in a recording studio. Enter [the band] Me in Motion.”

Mosley met Tim Wilson and Brian Dexter at his production job, and they formed the band, hit the road and never looked back. They have already garnered fans from their almost full-time touring schedule and their passionate blend of rock, pop and worship.

Mosley wants to create music that will help people change. “I’m trying to write songs that will inspire people to ‘live’ in a way they never have before, to realize that loving everyone, regardless of circumstance, is what it’s really all about,” he says.

“Doing simple things like helping their neighbors, or sitting by a lonely kid at the lunch table at school, or giving someone an open ear—it’s often those little things that let people around us know how much they’re really loved.”

“Loser” is for anyone who’s ever felt rejected; it reminds us to look at others with compassion and mercy just as Jesus would. “Gotta Be Something” is a manifesto, Mosley says, for us to reject the world’s definition of what it really means to live life to the fullest. “This world’s misconstrued ideas of happiness and success don’t really mean anything in the grand scheme, so let’s stop chasing them.”

The band name was inspired by Russian writer Leo Tolstoy: “Everybody thinks about changing the world, but nobody thinks about changing himself.” But Me in Motion doesn’t just challenge others to change; their music is as much reminders for themselves as it is for others.

“I always find myself going back to the theme of wanting to make a difference,” Mosely explains. “My heart for myself, the band, the kids and families that hear Me in Motion’s music is that all of us would be inspired to break out of these little bubbles that we so often find ourselves retreating into and show everybody a little bit of Jesus’ love every day. … Living a true life of love, I’ve found, is never the easy life. But it’s the real life. It’s the only life that fulfills who we’re meant to be.”
