‘The Rally’ Displays God’s Power to Bring Radical Change

The Rally Kenneth Copeland, Rick Reyna, T-Bone

If you’re familiar with Kenneth Copeland’s soul-winning ministry, it might seem odd to see the Word-Faith preacher portraying a mob boss. Yet his depiction of a man with a criminal past makes evangelist Rick Reyna’s movie, The Rally—now out on DVD—worth seeing.

The story centers on a family’s stronghold over a city where fear is used to keep locals in line. But it is also the story of the overwhelming power of God that can bring radical changes to those whose lives seem destined for destruction.

Though the movie is laced with dark overtones—murder, drug abuse, violence, broken families, adultery, teenage pregnancy, blasphemy and open defiance of God are prevalent during the first half—none of this, with the exception of the killing of three people, is shown onscreen.

But Reyna uses the darkness of Satan’s influence on people in everyday life to reveal how the light of God’s love can rescue anyone out of a hopeless situation. The Christian rally held in the town, despite threats of violence to prevent it, brings families back together and changes of heat that only the Lord can bring about.
