While the possibility of impeachment for Donald Trump and the California wildfires, among other issues, greatly concern end-times expert Michael Snyder, one alarming trend in American culture particularly vexes his spirit.
In a recent survey released by the Pew Research Center, when American adults are asked about their religion, only 65% describe themselves as Christians. That’s down a whopping 12% from a decade ago.
“We’re seeing a steady decline in the number of Americans who even are willing to call themselves Christian,” Snyder told Dr. Steve Greene on a recent episode of “Greenelines” on the Charisma Podcast Network. “We’re not talking about the people that are actually Bible-believing Christians who go to church and try to actually live a Christian life. And that percentage is much, much smaller.
“Throughout our history, we’ve been a Christian nation and most people have identified themselves as Christians. But as the numbers show, that percentage has been dropping pretty rapidly, and it’s pretty substantial. In return, we’ve seen a tremendous growth in the ‘nones,’ people with no religion who say ‘I’m atheist’ or ‘agnostic.’ That has been growing very rapidly, especially among Millennials.
“Only 49% of Millennials described themselves as Christian, so they are the first generation in American history that is majority non-Christian. And those are the leaders of tomorrow. These people are going to take over everything. This is where our society is headed. We are losing an entire generation of Americans who are turning away from God. We’re losing our young people. We desperately need revival to change the trajectory of this country because the trajectory this country is on is toward judgment.”
