For countless Americans, it has long been associated with post-church lunches, family road trips and home-style meals shared around the table. That is why the disappearance of several longtime menu favorites has sparked an emotional response from loyal customers, many of whom are now urging the restaurant to bring those beloved dishes back.
According to Fox News, Cracker Barrel patrons have taken to social media and online forums to call for the return of menu items they believe helped define the restaurant’s identity. The renewed interest comes as the Tennessee-based chain continues working to reconnect with longtime guests by embracing its traditional roots after receiving criticism over recent branding changes and menu updates.
Among the dishes customers continue requesting are the Sunrise Sampler, Grilled Chicken n’ Strawberry Spinach Salad, country fried chicken, black-eyed peas, loaded sweet potato, Baked Apple Dumpling, fried chicken livers, and the distinctly Southern staple known as Red-Eye Gravy, as both Fox and Eat This, Not That! reported.

The restaurant has already shown it is willing to listen when customers make their voices heard. Fox News reported that Cracker Barrel recently restored Hamburger Steak and Eggs in the Basket to menus nationwide after overwhelming demand from longtime patrons. Those decisions have given many guests hope that additional favorites could soon make a comeback.
For many diners, however, the discussion goes beyond favorite meals. It reflects a desire to preserve the traditions that have made Cracker Barrel a destination for generations.
Fox News highlighted one particularly passionate customer response, calling the discontinuation of certain menu items “blasphemy,” capturing the sentiment of many longtime guests who believe certain menu staples are inseparable from the Cracker Barrel experience.
“…in order to get that same teaser touch from the Sunrise Sampler, you have to order it all à la carte, which costs around $25 for the same great meal,” Josh Cooper of Cooper’s Next Level BBQ told Fox. “Blasphemy!”
Others echoed similar frustrations, saying the restaurant’s commitment to Southern comfort food should remain at the heart of its identity.
