South Carolina Church Loses Roof in Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian thrashed the Carolinas as a Category 2 storm, causing a South Carolina church to lose part of its roof Thursday morning.

WCSC reports that The Holy City Church in James Island lost a large portion of its roof in the back of the building, exposing its interior to the winds and rain.

WCIV, an ABC affiliate, posted a video of the church’s tin roof on the ground.

Over a dozen tornadoes were reported in North and South Carolina on Thursday, according to the Weather Channel.

NWS Newport/Morehead posted pictures on Twitter of a mobile-home neighborhood in Emerald Isle, North Carolina, that was devastated by a tornado.

The destruction was not nearly as bad, though, as what the Bahamas experienced. The storm rammed into the island nation and lingered as a Category 5 storm, killing at least 20 people and destroying around 13,000 homes.

Reuters reports that 70,000 people are in need of immediate aid. In response, Convoy of Hope brought relief supplies, including water, food, tarps, tents, water filters and solar lights.

The ministry says team members are already training locals on how to filter water and attending government meetings to learn how they can best help the Bahamas.

Convoy of Hope has also deployed a team to North Carolina with two trucks full of supplies.
