Lisa Smiley shouldn’t be alive, according to the Chinese government.
She was born after China enacted its one-child policy. Her mother was forced into hiding during the pregnancy to save her daughter’s life.
That’s one brush with death.
Another came when Smiley was 23 and pregnant with her first son. The Lord told Smiley and her husband to name him after the prophet Ezekiel. Doctors told them to abort the baby due to a heart defect.
The third came when Zeke was 5 and suffered a traumatic brain injury. Doctors once more told the Smileys to kill their son, this time by starving him and committing passive euthanasia.
