From reported cyberattacks across Europe to mysterious emergency alerts and growing concerns over power disruptions, a series of troubling developments is raising questions about just how prepared the world is for a major crisis.

Joe Kirby of Off the Kirb Ministries believes there is a much greater question people should be asking: Are we spiritually prepared for what comes next?

In a recent YouTube video, Kirby examined reports of widespread technological disruptions, including alleged cyberattacks targeting thousands of refrigeration units across seven European countries. He also pointed to reports of hundreds of French supermarkets experiencing similar problems, potentially resulting in massive food losses.

Kirby connected these reports with a British emergency preparedness campaign encouraging citizens to maintain at least 72 hours of essential supplies, including food, water, flashlights and cash.

He also referenced Pentagon documents concerning military installations maintaining enough resources to operate independently for 90 days.

“Why is it that more people are not asking if these two events are linked?” Kirby questioned while discussing the refrigeration incidents and preparedness warnings.

Yet his message went far beyond concerns about failing infrastructure or cyber warfare.

A Biblical Blueprint for Preparing Before Disaster Strikes

Turning to Scripture, Kirby pointed to Proverbs 6, where believers are instructed to consider the ant, which gathers provisions during the harvest rather than waiting until resources become scarce.

He then examined one of the Bible’s most extraordinary accounts of preparation: Joseph’s interpretation of Pharaoh’s dreams in Genesis 41.

Joseph warned that Egypt would experience seven years of extraordinary abundance followed by seven years of devastating famine. Rather than dismissing the warning, Joseph established a system to preserve food during the prosperous years.

When famine eventually arrived, Egypt had provisions not only for its own people but also for those who came seeking food from surrounding nations.

For Kirby, the biblical lesson is unmistakable: Wisdom involves preparing before the crisis arrives, not scrambling after disaster has already struck.

However, he emphasized that even the greatest physical preparations cannot address humanity’s most urgent need.

The Greater Warning: Are You Ready for Jesus Christ?

Kirby ultimately shifted his focus from stockpiling supplies to preparing for eternity, drawing a spiritual parallel between Joseph’s provision during famine and Jesus Christ as the Bread of Life.

In a world increasingly consumed by fears of economic collapse, technological failures and international conflict, Kirby reminded viewers that their ultimate security cannot be found in government systems or emergency stockpiles.

“I’m not going to sit here and tell you you need to get lots of tins of tuna, you need to get lots of water, make sure you’ve got lots of supplies,” Kirby said.

Instead, he delivered a far more consequential warning.

“Make sure you’ve got preparations for when the Lord Jesus Christ returns.”

His message challenges Christians to examine whether their attention has become so consumed with preparing for earthly emergencies that they have neglected the most important preparation of all.

While the world continues wrestling with uncertainty over what tomorrow could bring, Kirby’s message points believers back to the unchanging promises of Scripture.

The question is no longer simply whether another crisis is coming.

It is whether people are prepared to meet the One who holds the future in His hands.
