The bizarre mystery surrounding American Airlines Flight 618 continues to deepen, and Jonathan Cahn says newly revealed details only reinforce what he has believed from the beginning: Something far more than an ordinary airline disturbance unfolded at 30,000 feet.
In a new video, Cahn revisited the Sept. 3 incident in which a fellow passenger became disruptive, attacked him and ultimately had to be restrained before the flight diverted to Baltimore. This time, however, Cahn shared additional observations he says he had not previously made public.
“I witnessed the entire change, the entire transformation,” Cahn said, recalling the passenger, Arthur Lundeen, and the sudden shift in his behavior before the confrontation escalated.
According to Cahn, the two had spent roughly two hours talking peacefully. Then, he says, something dramatically changed.
“His face changed, his voice changed, everything changed,” Cahn said. He recalled the man suddenly becoming enraged, using obscenities and beginning to curse Jesus and God.
One piece of the mystery Cahn continues to highlight is the passenger’s apparent lack of memory afterward. Citing audio from the man’s subsequent court appearance, Cahn said the passenger remembered sitting beside him and talking but apparently could not recall what followed—including the confrontation and diversion.

For Cahn, that memory gap fits with what he believes he witnessed aboard the aircraft. He described Lundeen as appearing like a completely different person during the outburst before seemingly returning to himself afterward.
Cahn also revealed more about his mindset before the flight ever departed. He says he had already been anticipating spiritual opposition surrounding the Sept. 1 release of his latest book, The Altar of Pergamon, which explores what he describes as the biblical and historical mystery surrounding the “throne of Satan.”
Cahn says he had even spoken to his congregation at Beth Israel about spiritual warfare before the incident and had been praying with others concerning potential opposition. Two days after the book’s release, Flight 618 erupted into chaos.
He also returned to the struggle over his laptop, which contained his writing. Cahn says he became convinced during the confrontation that Lundeen was attempting to seize or destroy it—another detail he interprets within the broader spiritual context of the encounter.
Cahn additionally pointed to a more recent account from passengers involved in restraining the man. He believes comments reportedly made during that chaotic confrontation concerning the devil and demons further support his interpretation of what occurred.
Yet Cahn’s message is not ultimately one of condemnation toward the man who attacked him. He closed by praying for Lundeen, asking God to save him, heal him and restore him.
That may be the most important distinction in Cahn’s latest account. He believes Flight 618 offered a startling, real-world glimpse into a spiritual battle Scripture says cannot always be seen with human eyes.
