The crown is getting closer, but first comes the wilderness.
“House of David” is preparing for its final season, and David’s road to Israel’s throne is about to become anything but easy.
According to ChurchLeaders, Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios started production in Greece on Season 3 of the biblical drama. The third season will also bring the series to its planned conclusion, finishing the story of David’s journey from an overlooked shepherd to his destiny as Israel’s king.
Yet before viewers see David wearing the crown, they will see him running for his life.
ChurchLeaders reports that the final season will plunge David into exile as he becomes a hunted outlaw, forced to survive among his enemies while keeping his true identity concealed. The path ahead will be marked by betrayal, sacrifice and the mounting cost of the calling placed on his life.
Executive producers Jon Erwin and Jon Gunn stated that this is the chapter they have been building toward since the series began.

“We hope audiences feel just how far David has come by the time his story reaches the throne,” the producers said.
Michael Iskander will return as David, Ayelet Zurer as Queen Ahinoam and Ali Suliman as King Saul.
For Iskander, portraying the future king has apparently left its own mark.
“Playing David has changed my life in ways I never could have anticipated when we began this journey,” he said, according to ChurchLeaders.
And perhaps that is where the final season could strike its deepest spiritual chord.
Scripture makes something unmistakably clear about David’s journey: The anointing did not eliminate the waiting.
David was chosen before he was crowned. Between Samuel’s anointing and the throne came giants, warfare, Saul’s fury, rejection and wilderness seasons that hardly looked like the fulfillment of a divine promise.
Now “House of David” is stepping into that tension.
The throne may be waiting, but David still has a wilderness to walk through first.
