Lindsay Clancy’s attorney, Kevin Reddington, has urged President Trump to grant his client a presidential pardon. Trump’s pardon power does not extend to state-level charges.

“Mr. President, I would hope that you would consider this young lady and the person she is, what she’s been through, and consider a pardon,” Reddington said during an appearance on “Good Morning America.”

Discussing the recent mistrial, the lawyer said of ” Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, “He’s a very hard-charging prosecutor, a conservative gentleman. I hope however after sitting through this trial and seeing the evidence that was presented from the government as well as from the defense, that he would revisit that issue and hopefully would be able to work something out that would be acceptable to both sides.”

When asked about the mistrial, President Trump said, “It’s on television so much, it’s hard not to follow it.”

“Look, she did a horrible, horrible thing. Can’t be worse,” he said. “But you’ll find out what the price to pay is. There’ll be a price. It’s going to be mental institution or jail or something, but I guess they’re going to go through another trial. It’s too bad.”

Clancy faced charges in the deaths of Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, just 8 months old. Prosecutors had presented jurors with three possible verdicts: first-degree murder, second-degree murder, or manslaughter.

“It is with a heavy heart that we report, we are unable to come to a unanimous decision and will not be able to,” Plymouth Superior Court Judge William Sullivan said after pressing jurors to reach a decision.
