Wake Up America!
Like the prodigal son, we Americans have taken our Father’s gifts, freedom, abundance, His grace, and squandered them. We are living in the spiritual pigpen of our own making, far from home and far from the Father who never stopped watching the road for us. Aren’t we tired of it yet? Isn’t it time to come home?
God is calling the prodigals to return to Him in 2026, as we enter the Third Millennium of Jesus’ ministry and the 70th Year of Jubilee since Israel entered the Promised Land (see the Prayer Guide at AmericanWakeUpCall.net for detailed information). This is the Year of the Favor of the Lord for His people to pray, proclaim liberty, and preach the Good News.
Preparation to Return to God
Jesus prepared for His ministry by being tested for forty days, which many believe occurred during the forty-day Hebrew season of Teshuvah. During Teshuvah, hearts are tested as believers humble themselves, repent, and return to God. This year Teshuvah runs from August 12 to September 20, and we will prepare by praying through it for ourselves, the Church, and the nation to return to God.
Proclaiming the Year of Jubilee
The last day of Teshuvah this year, September 20, is Yom Kippur, the day when the liberty of Jubilee is proclaimed throughout the land (Leviticus 25:10). God calls for His people to return because “those are my servants whom I have bought” (Leviticus 25:55), and liberty comes from being disciples of Jesus and knowing the truth (John 8:31-32). God also calls for the return of the land to Him, because “the land is mine” (Leviticus 25:23). He will heal our land if we humble ourselves, seek His face, and repent (2 Chronicles 7:14). Jubilee is also a time for family reunion, when God called for them to return to their clan (Leviticus 25:10). This is a call for us to reunite with God’s family and bring the prodigals home.
Proclaiming the Year of the Favor of the Lord
On the Jubilee we enter into the Third Millennium of Jesus’ ministry, remembering the announcement of His mission in Nazareth after He returned from His forty days in the desert (Luke 4:18-19). Let us return to God by praying for Holy Spirit anointing to continue Christ’s mission faithfully into the Third Millennium. We will proclaim the Year of the Favor of the Lord, when the Good News will be proclaimed, people will be set free, and healing, signs and wonders, and miracles in Jesus’ name will follow. God says, “Now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).
Preaching for the Prodigals to Return
We believe the Year of the Favor of the Lord will take Christians out of the four walls of their churches and into the streets to awaken their cities and bring the prodigals home. Jesus gave us a model for reaching our cities when He sent out the seventy-two workers, two by two, to prepare the way for Him (Luke 10:1-20). First came prayer, as Jesus prayed for the Lord of the Harvest to send out workers into the field. Second came healing, as the seventy-two workers met the needs of the people in the cities where they were sent. Third, the care given to the people earned the workers the right to share the Gospel with them. As a result of praying for the people, caring for them, and sharing the Gospel with them, the demonic strongholds over the cities were overthrown.
In the same way, awakening can come to our cities if we pray for guidance, show God’s love by meeting the needs of our people, and then share the Gospel. Everyone has a role to play in reaching our cities. Some will open their homes, some will go door to door to offer hope and help to their neighbors, and some will invite people to revival meetings or church. But all of us must “always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope you have — but do this with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15). Let us all seek God to find our part in awakening our cities and setting people free. God says go!
