First Look at ‘The Resurrection of the Christ’ Teases Epic Biblical Return to the Big Screen

X/The Resurrection of the Christ

Mel Gibson’s “The Resurrection of the Christ” just shared some exciting new details.

In a post on X, the film shared that part one would hit theaters next year on May 6, 2027, along with an image of Jesus and His followers before His ascension to heaven.

In a second post, the release date for part two was announced for May 25, 2028.

This announcement comes after both parts were expected to be released in 2027.

As Charisma previously reported, the Mel Gibson production recently wrapped up filming, completing over 20 years after “The Passion of the Christ” was first released.

In a culture filled with darkness, confusion and spiritual hunger, the anticipation surrounding The Resurrection of the Christ is already stirring conversations about eternity, redemption and the unmatched power of Jesus Christ. The resurrection was never just an event in history—it was the moment that changed humanity forever, proving that death, hell and the grave could not hold the Son of God.

At a time when so many are searching for hope, truth and purpose, the message of the resurrection remains as powerful and life-changing as ever. Jesus is still transforming lives, still calling people to repentance, and still offering salvation to a world desperate for His presence. And if the impact of The Passion of the Christ was any indication, this next chapter could ignite spiritual conversations across the globe all over again.
