Many Christians pray, fast and read the Bible faithfully but still struggle to see spiritual breakthrough in their lives, according to John Ramirez, who recently delivered a passionate message calling believers to leave behind spiritual compromise and fully pursue God’s purpose.
“Don’t settle for mediocre Christianity,” Ramirez said. “I want to have Christianity with purpose because God is a God of purpose. God is a God of order.”
Ramirez challenged believers to stop drifting spiritually and begin examining what may be hindering their growth. He warned that routines and religious activity alone cannot replace surrender and obedience to God.
“A lot of Christians pray, no victory. A lot of Christians fast, no victory. A lot of Christians read the Word, no victory,” he said. “You can fast all you want. You can pray all you want. You can read your Bible all you want. But if you don’t cut away the things that need to be cut away, you’ll never see the full victory God has for you.”
Throughout the message, Ramirez repeatedly emphasized one central theme.
“Something has to die in order for you to move forward,” he said. “Something has to be buried in order for you to take ground off the enemy and reach your promised land.”
Ramirez pointed to the Israelites wandering in the wilderness for 40 years as an example of how complaining, unbelief and spiritual resistance can delay God’s promises.
“The complainers, the murmurers, all these situations had to die in the desert in order for the right people to go into the promised land,” he said. “Because in order to move forward, things in your life have to die.”

He urged Christians to honestly examine their hearts and identify attitudes, habits and relationships that may be standing in the way of spiritual growth.
“Is it gossiping? Are you murmuring? Are you complaining? Are you doubting God? Are you questioning God? What needs to die?” Ramirez asked.
He also warned believers not to become distracted by online arguments, controversy and Christian gossip culture.
“Fight the fights that matter in your life that’s taking you to your purpose, your destiny,” he said. “Don’t follow these idiots that are doing that. They built their platform on gossip. God hates gossip.”
Instead, Ramirez encouraged Christians to pursue holiness, spiritual maturity and intimacy with the Holy Spirit.
“You will learn to fight if you hear the voice of God,” he said. “Learn God’s voice.”
Ramirez described what he called a “spiritual circumcision,” asking God to remove old ways of thinking and spiritual hindrances.
“Lord, cut away everything that’s bringing hindering, delay and blockages that’s stopping me from my promised land to move forward to my victory,” he prayed during the teaching.
He also reminded believers that God still fights for His people.
“The Lord of Hosts is with us,” Ramirez said. “God who fights on behalf of those who are His own.”
His message echoes the biblical call found throughout Scripture to lay aside sin, renew our minds and walk fully in obedience to Christ. Hebrews 12 urges us to “lay aside every weight” that slows us down, while Ephesians 4 calls believers to “put off” the old self and walk in righteousness and holiness.
As Christians, we cannot carry spiritual compromise into the new things God desires to do in our lives. The Holy Spirit continues to refine us, strengthen us and lead us forward so we can walk in freedom, victory and deeper intimacy with Christ.
