A West Virginia prosecutor has dropped a criminal case against a woman accused of making a threatening social media post about President Donald Trump, according to a report from Fox News.
Morgan Morrow, 39, had been charged earlier this year with making terroristic threats after authorities alleged she posted a message on TikTok that appeared to suggest harm against the president. However, the case was dismissed without prejudice on April 16, meaning it could be refiled at a later date.
The dismissal was not based on the content of the post itself, but rather on how the investigation was conducted.
The Social Media Post That Sparked the Case
According to Fox News, the case centered on a TikTok message in which Morrow allegedly wrote: “Surely a sniper with a terminal illness can’t be a big ask out of 343 million.”
Investigators interpreted the statement as a potential attempt to solicit an assassination, prompting swift action from law enforcement. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said at the time of her arrest that she was accused of recruiting individuals to carry out violence against the president.

Legal Breakdown: Miranda Rights at the Center
The case ultimately unraveled due to a critical procedural issue. Prosecutors acknowledged that Morrow had not been properly advised of her Miranda rights before being questioned by law enforcement.
Because of this, key statements she allegedly made could be deemed inadmissible in court, significantly weakening the case and ultimately leading to it being thrown out.
