In a moment that is already drawing national attention, President Donald Trump is set to read a powerful passage of Scripture from the Oval Office as part of the “America Reads the Bible” event—placing one of the Bible’s most recognized calls to repentance and restoration at the center of a nationwide spiritual gathering.

According to Fox News, Trump will deliver a recorded reading of 2 Chronicles 7:11–22 during at 6 p.m. E.T. on Tuesday, a passage intentionally reserved for him by event organizers.

This is no ordinary Scripture selection.

Why 2 Chronicles 7 Matters

The passage Trump is set to read includes one of the most widely quoted verses in American spiritual life—God’s promise that if His people humble themselves, pray, seek His face and turn from wickedness, He will hear from heaven and heal their land.

Organizers did not assign this reading randomly.

Bunni Pounds, who is spearheading the initiative through Christians Engaged, told Fox News the decision came through prayer and intentional planning. She said the team felt strongly that this passage—long prayed over in America during moments of national need—should be read by the president himself.

For Pounds and her team, the moment carries symbolic weight: a national leader proclaiming a biblical call to humility and repentance during a time many believe the country is in desperate need of both.

A Bible Reading That Reaches the White House

While much of “America Reads the Bible” is taking place live at the Museum of the Bible, Trump’s reading will come directly from the Oval Office via recorded video, Fox News reported.

That distinction matters.

It means the event is not confined to a single stage in Washington—it is reaching into the highest office in the nation, bridging a public Scripture gathering with the seat of American leadership.

A Nationwide Movement of Scripture

The broader event runs from April 18 through April 25, with participants reading the entire Bible aloud over the course of seven days. According to Fox News, nearly 500 individuals—including political leaders, pastors, media figures and everyday Americans—are taking part. This event is taking place right alongside other celebrations of America’s 250th year.

Daily readings are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. E.T., following an opening celebration in Washington that drew hundreds to mark the beginning of the initiative.

Streaming partner Pure Flix is broadcasting the event nationwide, allowing viewers across the country to join in what organizers describe as a unified moment centered on God’s Word.

More Than a Headline

Trump’s participation ensures this moment will capture headlines. But beneath the political implications is a deeper reality: the Word of God is being publicly proclaimed across the nation’s capital—and even from the Oval Office itself.

For many believers, that carries profound meaning.

Because the power is not in who is reading the Scripture.

It is in the Scripture being read.

And as 2 Chronicles 7 is spoken into the atmosphere—calling for humility, prayer and repentance—the question is no longer whether the message is being declared.

The question is whether it will be heard.

And more importantly—whether it will be answered.
