From Cells to Salvation: Daystar Expands Nationwide Prison Ministry Effort

Daystar Television Network has partnered with God Behind Bars to expand access to Christian programming for incarcerated individuals across the United States through the Pando App, according to a recent news release.

The initiative comes as incarceration continues to impact millions nationwide. God Behind Bars reports that approximately 1.9 million people are impacted by incarceration every year in the U.S., with 95% expected to reenter citizen life and 82% that will return to the prison system within ten years.

Through the partnership, Daystar programs became available to inmates on Oct. 24, 2025. The platform is accessible via tablets provided within correctional facilities and currently serves institutions across 34 states, including Florida, Texas, California and New York. Additional expansion is anticipated pending a finalized agreement with NCIC.

In a statement included in the news release, Landon Sherman, senior director of strategic partnerships for God Behind Bars, highlighted the scope of the collaboration.

““It is an honor to work alongside Daystar Television as our partnership continues to reach more than 650,000 incarcerated men and women with the gospel and expand its impact even further,” he said. “Their commitment to excellence and global reach makes them an incredible partner in amplifying hope to millions.”

The partnership builds on Daystar’s longstanding involvement in prison ministry. The network funded installation costs in 2008 to broadcast its programming into every prison facility in Texas and continues to participate in outreach efforts, including involvement with American Correctional Association events.

Daystar Founder and President Joni Lamb emphasized the broader impact of the initiative.

“We believe that every life can be changed by the love of God and the power of the Gospel,” says Lamb. “And when these men and women experience that kind of transformation, it not only affects them, but it impacts their families, their homes and their communities.”
