Why don’t we talk about prophecy more?
Pastor Jack Hibbs confronts that question head-on as he unpacks Daniel 9:24–27, declaring it the most powerful and overlooked section of Scripture. This prophecy is not symbolic or abstract. It is a precise timeline that proves God’s Word is true and that history is unfolding exactly as written.
“If God does not keep His prophetic promises then He is not God,” Hibbs says. “If He doesn’t keep His Word… I have no salvation.”
Why Daniel’s 70 Weeks Matters
This passage stands as the “holy of holies” of Bible prophecy, a declaration that lays out God’s redemptive timeline with exact precision.
The prophecy reveals:
- A total of 490 years appointed specifically for Israel and Jerusalem
- God’s plan to:
- Finish transgression
- End sin
- Make reconciliation for iniquity
- Bring in everlasting righteousness
- A definitive timeline leading directly to the Messiah
- A prophetic structure that is exact, measurable and undeniable
This level of accuracy separates the God of the Bible from every false system of belief.
A Timeline That Points Straight to Jesus
The prophecy begins with a decree to rebuild Jerusalem on March 14, 445 BC, when King Artaxerxes authorized Nehemiah to restore the city.
From that moment, the timeline unfolds with precision:
- 7 weeks (49 years) for rebuilding Jerusalem
- 62 weeks (434 years) leading to the Messiah
- Total: 483 years until the Messiah appears
At the exact point in history:
- The Messiah arrives in Jerusalem
- The Messiah is “cut off”
- The Messiah is executed not for Himself, but for others
“When you do the math… you come to April 6, 32 AD,” Hibbs says, marking the day Jesus entered Jerusalem.
The prophecy calculates this moment down to the exact day.

What Happens Next
The prophecy continues with events that follow the Messiah’s death:
- Jerusalem and the temple are destroyed
- A future world leader rises
- A seven-year covenant is established with Israel
- The covenant is broken at the midpoint
- The temple is desecrated
These final seven years align directly with the Tribulation described in the book of Revelation.
Why This Matters Right Now
This prophecy does not belong to the past. It is unfolding now.
- Israel has been restored as a nation
- The Jewish people have returned to their land
- The stage is set for the final seven years
God declared history in advance, and every fulfilled detail confirms what is coming next.
“I just proved to you the existence of God,” Hibbs says. “Study it… you can’t miss it.”
A Prophecy That Demands a Response
Daniel’s 70 weeks is not theory. It is proof.
The first 483 years were fulfilled exactly as written. The remaining seven years will unfold with the same precision. The rise of global leadership, the Tribulation and the return of Christ to Jerusalem are not distant ideas.
These are the next events on God’s timeline.
