Something shocking has happened at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church.
In a powerful interview by Fox News’ Steve Doocy, he discussed how Lakewood Church is experiencing a revival among Gen Z and Millennials.
“Does the message ever seem like, ‘I heard that last week; I don’t need to go back’?” Doocy asked one young man.
“No, you never run out of needing it. You never go to a place where you say, ‘I’ve graduated from needing inspiration…if you’ve met that person, please introduce them to me,” he stated.

“Have you always gone to church?” Doocy asked another.
“I have. My mom made sure of it…We had no other option…We have a lot of people who, they were going to church when they were younger because their parents said to do so, fell out of faith, and now they’re coming back and regaining their faith and rebuilding the foundation,” he said.
Another young man shared that he started going to church after his girlfriend asked why he wouldn’t.
“She was like, ‘Are you going to go to church?’ And I’m like, ‘Probably not.’ She goes, ‘Why not?’ And I didn’t have a why not.”
Someone else pointed out that this generation first looked to many other things and places before turning toward God.
“A lot of your friends who’ve never been to church, but suddenly they’re interested in church,” Doocy commented.

“They’ve looked to other things, and nothing’s really fulfilled them. Nothing’s really satisfied them. And they’re longing for more, they’re longing for the truth,” he stated.
“This is a place where you’re going to feel embraced, find friends, find out who God is and find out that God has a plan and a purpose for your life,” a final interviewee said.
In a culture saturated with distractions, entertainment and endless substitutes for truth, young people are discovering that none of it satisfies the deepest hunger of the soul. Their return to church speaks to something far greater than a trend—it reflects a renewed search for purpose, identity and the presence of God.
