One church is mourning the loss of their beloved pastor after he was accidentally killed by a roommate.
According to the Christian Post, the Houston Police Department is currently investigating the killing of Pedro Cantú, the pastor of Amor y Restauración Church, who was shot and killed by a roommate during a break-in.
In a news release, the Houston Police Department responded to a burglary at the home. The news release stated:
As officers arrived, they heard at least one gunshot from inside the residence. Officers located and detained a male with a firearm. They also found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the male, Mr. Cantu, to an area hospital where doctors pronounced him deceased.
Officers also found another male suffering from a superficial gunshot wound. He was also transported to an area hospital.
Detectives learned that the armed male, 35, and Mr. Cantu were residents of the home. And the injured male had broken into the residence. The armed male was attempting to defend the residence, shooting the suspect and accidentally striking Mr. Cantu.

As the Christian Post noted, Cantú and his wife have three daughters and came to the U.S. from Mexicoin 1990. After meeting other families who held worship and Bible studies in their apartment, Cantu opened Love and Restoration Church in 1991.
Cantú’s widow, Leticia, spoke to the church following her husband’s death, stating, “My husband loved you all deeply…“He loved the church deeply. I never heard him speak ill of anyone...”
