The legal saga between Gateway Church and Cindy Clemishire continues to unfold.
A ChurchLeaders report noted that two former elders at Gateway Church were not removed from Cindy Clemishire’s $1 million defamation suit.
The two elders who have tried to be removed from the suit are Kevin Grove and Steve Dulin. The article noted that Dulin was one of the church’s founding elders. When he left Gateway, the church noted that it was heading “in a different direction.”

Both Grove and Dulin were among the elders who decided to take leave of absence during Gateway’s third-party investigation into the Robert Morris and Cindy Clemishire case. The two sought to be removed from Clemishire’s defamation suit under the Texas Citizens Participation Act. As ChurchLeaders noted, this is “designed to protect people from meritless or retaliatory legal claims.” Judge Emily Tobolowsky has denied this request.
During this time, continue praying for wisdom for leaders, justice for all involved and healing for every person impacted. May this be a season where the Church seeks God’s guidance, walks in integrity and reflects Christ’s heart in both word and action.
