House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) declared that he would support the impeachment of judges blocking the Trump administration’s agenda.
“I’m for it,” Johnson said during a press conference. “Judge Boasberg is one who’s been mentioned. And these are some egregious abuses.”
“Impeachment, as we have discussed all together many, many times, is an extreme measure. But extreme times call for extreme measures,” he explained. “And I think some of these judges have gotten so far outside the bounds of where they’re supposed to operate, it would not be, in my view, a bad thing for Congress to lay down law, so to speak, and, you know, to make an example of some of these egregious abuses.”

In November, Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX) introduced articles of impeachment against Judge James Boasberg for his role in the Arctic Frost investigation. “Ignoring his responsibility to wield the power of his office in a constitutional manner, Chief Judge Boasberg granted Special Counsel John L. Smith authorization to issue frivolous nondisclosure orders in furtherance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation project codenamed ARCTIC FROST,” the resolution said. “These nondisclosure orders covered Members of Congress who were acting in accord with their legislative duties and privileges guaranteed by Article 1, Section 6, Clause 1 of the U.S. Constitution.”
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) also called for Boasberg to be impeached. “I am right now calling on the House of Representatives to impeach Judge Boasberg. Judge Boasberg put his robe down, stood up, and said, ‘Sign me up to be part of the partisan vendetta against 20% of the Republicans in the Senate,’” he stated during an October press conference. “That is a dereliction of duty and a violation of the judicial oath.”
