The reality of organ harvesting just got much, much darker.

In a report by the Department of Health and Human Services, it was discovered that some organ transplants were actually from patients who were still alive.

According to Cincinnati’s Local 12 News, HHS found out that “…in some cases, organ procurement began while patients still showed signs of life.”

Not only is this raising alarms with some, but it has effectively made the human life itself no more than a commodity off the shelf.

As Dr. Joseph Varon of the Independent Medical Alliance stated, “The system has allowed the value of a person—of an actual human being—to be reduced to the commercial value of a pair of organs.”

While this may seem like a relatively newer topic to some, it is far from that. Canada has been known for the past couple of years not only for the increase in their assisted suicide MAID program, but also for organ harvesting as well. China also became known for the harvesting of organs of Uyghur Muslims. Organ harvesting isn’t a new phenomenon, and it isn’t going away anytime soon.

Is it possible that mistakes were made in this process, assuming that organs were being taken from someone already deceased? Absolutely. However, organ harvesting is part of a black market, highly lucrative system that has likely found its way into our society, regardless of whether we like it or not. Organs could potentially be used for testing, cloning or any other measure of medical experimentation.

When human life is not treated with the highest regard, it becomes frighteningly easy for darkness to disguise itself as “medical advancement.”

What we are witnessing is not just a medical scandal—it is a spiritual alarm bell. Scripture warns that in the last days, deception will masquerade as enlightenment. As technology pushes boundaries with gene editing, synthetic biology and even the early conversations of cloning, believers must recognize the spiritual battlefield beneath the headlines. This is not merely about policy—it is about the dignity God stamped on every human soul.

As these disturbing revelations unfold, the church must remain discerning, prayerful and unafraid to expose the works of darkness. The lines between life and death are being blurred, and if there was ever a moment to contend for truth, it is now.
