The enemy’s objective is to drive you out of your destiny. Without discernment and wisdom, even the most righteous will fall victim to deception.
The anointing of God is protective. When you stay connected, you stay protected. When you disconnect, you become vulnerable.
Jehoshaphat, the king who walked in the spiritual DNA of David, was blessed with riches, honor, and abundance:
Now the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the previous ways of David his father, and he did not seek out the Baal cult. For he sought out the God of his fathers and walked in his commandments, rather than the deeds of Israel.
2 Chronicles 17:3–4, MEV
Yet when he aligned himself with Ahab, Jezebel’s husband, he stepped outside of divine protection:
Now Jehoshaphat had great riches and honor, and he married into the family of Ahab.
2 Chronicles 18:1
In Ahab’s final battle, his deceptive schemes intensified. He disguised himself with armor and sent Jehoshaphat to the front lines as bait:
But the king of Aram ordered his thirty-two commanders who had control over his chariots, saying, “Fight neither against small nor great, but only against the king of Israel.” So when the commanders of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, they said, “Surely it is the king of Israel.” And they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out. When the commanders of the chariots realized that it was not the king of Israel, they turned away from pursuing him.
1 Kings 22:31-33
Ahab hoped Jehoshaphat would be mistaken for him. This was a murderous plot in disguise to take Jehoshaphat out. This was deception in disguise—an ungodly alliance almost cost a righteous man his life.

The lesson is clear: You cannot afford to make an ungodly agreement with the enemy.
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? What communion has light with darkness?
2 Corinthians 6:14
When you walk with God, you carry His spiritual DNA—riches, favor, honor, and abundance are part of your inheritance. These blessings flow only through obedience and alignment with truth.
The world may call for compromise, but the Word calls for conviction.
Jeremiah warned about false prophets:
For they prophesy a lie to you in order to remove you far from your land. And I will drive you out, and you shall perish.
Jeremiah 27:10
You are not obligated to people—you are obligated to the Lord.
For am I now seeking the approval of men or of God? Or am I trying to please men? For if I were still trying to please men, I would not be the servant of Christ.
Galatians 1:10
We are in a season where deception does not march through the front door; it slips in quietly, cloaked in compassion and coated in false unity. The enemy uses distracted believers as open doors.
The stories of Joshua and Jehoshaphat warn us that even the anointed can be deceived when discernment is disregarded. We are living in a generation where compromise is fashionable and conviction is rare. Yet God is calling His people to stand.
