Are we witnessing a dangerous stage being set for the ultimate authoritarian government to come onto the world stage?
In an speech to a group of children, El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele gave a shocking statistic: he said 80,000 people in his country have been put in prison in order to have peace in their nation.

“We had to imprison 80,000 criminals to achieve this peace,” Bukele said. “Because entire generations had been left behind by previous governments. If those generations had been educated correctly, that would not have been necessary.”
Bukele then promised that this would not have to happen again in future times to come because a different type of education is being implemented into their country now to raise up leaders that will abide by a different system.
“Education isn’t just teaching math or science. Education is shaping people. It is teaching respect, civic duty, discipline and values,” he continued. “It is even teaching basic things such as saying, ‘thank you,’ ‘please’ and ‘good morning.’ These small things should never have been lost. It is teaching students to show up to school clean, take care of public spaces, not litter in the street, and respect the lives and private property of others.”
Bukele said it is much harder to break adults of poor habits than teach children the ones you want instilled in the first place.
“…if we work with the youngest among us, who are the future of El Salvador, we can ensure that what happened will never be repeated…some people complain that it’s authoritarianism. It is not. It’s basic education.”

This dramatic shift in El Salvador comes as here in America the National Guard was recently deployed into cities like Chicago and Washington, D.C. While there is truth that good morality should be part of the the fabric of a nation, the question is: Could these actions be setting up a dangerous precedent for things to come in the future? If the following administrations differ in their ideologies and values, what disciplines and definitions of morality will be placed on people? Could even Christians find themselves locked up behind bars if those in power disagree with their faith?
What we are witnessing may well be a subtle preparation for a global system that seeks to control not only actions but the very hearts and minds of the next generation. As nations experiment with authoritarian measures under the guise of morality, order or education, the stage may be quietly set for a system that will not tolerate dissent, including those whose conscience is bound by the Word of God. What begins as discipline and civic instruction can easily morph into control that violates freedom of worship, speech and faith itself.

As darkness rises and governments seek to redefine morality, the Church must rise in prayer, holiness and unwavering obedience, knowing that the faithful who endure will inherit God’s eternal kingdom and that His justice will ultimately triumph over every attempt at global oppression.
