In a time when faith is often reduced to trends or debates, evangelist Daniel Adams says the church is overlooking one of its most urgent responsibilities: spiritual warfare. In a recent interview with Charisma Media, Adams described a world full of unseen forces that “all have assignments, domains and dominions,” warning that ignoring them allows darkness to thrive.

“People think it’s superstition,” Adams said. “But in other nations, they already understand the spiritual realm. They know what’s unseen shapes what’s seen.”

The Reality of Spiritual Hierarchies

Adams explained that not all demonic forces operate the same way. “They all have assignments,” he said. “They all have domains. They have dominions.” In his travels, he has encountered different kinds of spirits that seem tied to regions or cultures.

  • In the Caribbean, Adams said he often confronts “water spirits,” entities linked to rituals performed near rivers or oceans.
  • In Europe, especially Germany, he said he’s faced “religious Leviathan spirits” marked by pride, control and rejection.

“Every place has its own strongholds,” he said. “You can feel it when you step into a new region—the oppression, the history, the spiritual weight. But no matter what they’re called, they all bow to the name of Jesus Christ.”

Adams compared these spirits to organized kingdoms that imitate divine order but serve darkness. “No spirit works alone,” he said. “There’s always a hierarchy. One opens the door, others come in to build a stronghold in someone’s life.”

Deliverance Across the Globe

While stories of deliverance are often tied to Africa, Adams said that’s changing. “In Africa, the supernatural is normal. If someone has a problem, they go to a witch doctor or they go to God,” he said. “They don’t question the spiritual. But in the West, we’ve rationalized everything and explained away the power of God.”

He’s seen that shift firsthand. “It’s not just Africa anymore,” Adams said. “I’ve been in Japan and demons started coming out of Japanese people. I’ve seen deliverance in Germany and in America. People are hungry for freedom.”

He believes this openness reflects a growing spiritual hunger. “It’s an open field right now for anyone who wants to operate in the supernatural and see God’s glory move.”

Understanding the Enemy

Adams said certain spirits mirror biblical and mythological figures. “You might run into Jezebel, Lilith or Ishtar,” he said. “Those names describe their nature. Jezebel represents immorality and manipulation. Leviathan represents pride and rejection. They take those names because it’s their assignment to continue the same destruction in families and bloodlines.”

He described how spiritual bondage forms layer by layer, like scales on Leviathan. “Each scale is a trauma,” Adams said. “One says, ‘I was abandoned.’ Another says, ‘I was bullied.’ Another says, ‘I was divorced.’ The spirit uses those to build walls around itself. When you heal the trauma, the walls start to break.”

Can Christians Be Affected by Demons?

The question, Adams said, comes up often. “A blood-bought Christian can’t be possessed,” he explained. “But they can be oppressed. Think of it like squatters in a house. You still own the house, but someone’s in there causing chaos until you exercise authority to get them out.”

He compared believers’ bodies to the Old Testament temple. “The enemy always wanted to invade the temple, but it was still God’s temple,” he said. “It’s the same with us. We belong to Jesus, but if we leave doors open through sin or ignorance, the enemy will take advantage.”

The Ongoing Battle

Spiritual warfare isn’t a relic of ancient faith. It’s a present reality, Adams said. The unseen world influences culture, nations and individuals, and it requires spiritual discernment to confront it. “The church has to wake up,” he said. “Deliverance isn’t a side ministry. It’s part of the gospel.”

Whether it’s breaking trauma, exposing pride or closing doors opened through sin, Adams believes every believer has a role to play. “We’re temples of the Holy Spirit,” he said. “It’s time we start protecting the house.”

In a world that’s forgotten the supernatural, Adams’ message reminds believers that spiritual warfare is not something to fear but something to fight with faith, authority and the power of Jesus Christ.
