“Cambodia and Thailand on Sunday signed an expanded ceasefire deal on Sunday that President Donald Trump helped broker over the summer, ending their border conflict,” Fox News reported. The fighting had left dozens dead and hundreds of thousands displaced. Trump “threatened higher tariffs against both countries to push them into agreeing to end the fighting,” the outlet added.
At the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur, Trump stood beside Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul as they signed the pact. “We did something that a lot of people said couldn’t be done,” Trump said. The agreement calls for Thailand to release 18 Cambodian soldiers and for both nations to begin removing heavy weapons from the border. Hun Manet called it a “historic day” while Anutin said it “establishes the building blocks for a lasting peace.”

This latest victory follows Trump’s broader diplomatic campaign. Earlier this year he helped secure a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas then posted Matthew 5:9 on Truth Social: “Blessed are the peacemakers.”

In Europe the Trump administration has been actively working toward peace in Ukraine coordinating indirect negotiations and ceasefire proposals between Russian and Ukrainian envoys. Reuters confirmed that U.S. and Russian officials “were working on ideas for a possible peace settlement for Ukraine.”
The Kuala Lumpur summit also produced new trade and mineral agreements between the United States, Cambodia, Thailand and Malaysia as part of Trump’s broader plan to rebuild supply chains and reduce reliance on China. A joint U.S.–Malaysia statement said the pact would “strengthen our bilateral economic relationship which will provide both countries’ exporters unprecedented access to each other’s markets.”
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim praised Trump’s leadership saying the accord “reminds us that reconciliation is not concession but an act of courage.”
