“For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it as the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement” (Lev. 17:11).
The Blood Sacrifice…
It is at the core of our faith: The only way to receive forgiveness and be brought into a right relationship with Father God—is through a blood atonement. Consider, Israel’s sins were forgiven (on the Day of Atonement) when their High Priest would bring into the Holy of Holies the blood of a bull and goat, pouring the blood on the top of the Ark of the Covenant (Lev. 16). When the Lord saw the blood, He overlooked the sins of the children of Israel for that year.

The blood sacrifices that took place on Yom Kippur could never completely remove sin. God instituted this as an example, pointing to what would ultimately take away our sins—His own Son. God Himself clothed in humanity, dying on the cross and spilling His blood for our iniquities. Thus, Yeshua was the culmination of all the blood sacrifices in the entire Torah. And because His blood is perfect and forever alive, there never needs to be another blood sacrifice again. It is finished! To say it another way, the blood sacrifices in the Hebrew Bible were shadows of what would ultimately be fulfilled by Messiah Jesus Himself.
But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this creation; and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. (Heb. 9: 11,12)
Protected by the Blood…
Because the blood of Jesus is over us, we are protected and do not have to fear what is on the outside, just like the children of Israel inside their homes, were kept safe by the blood of the Lamb. When we are clinging to God, the blood of the Lamb is applied to our lives and we do not have to be afraid—we do not have to be fearful of being vulnerable to the devil’s attacks. God has got us, and He will not let go!
Renewed by the Blood…
It is a remarkable thing that when we come to Jesus, old things pass away and all things become new. We have been washed. The power of sin over our lives is broken. Our old life has been replaced; we have been given a new nature. We are born again!
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, this person is a new creation; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come” (2 Cor. 5:17).
I am not the same person I was 20 years ago, ten years ago, or even five years ago. And as you walk with the Lord, neither are you. You are constantly being cleansed and transformed. Remember, His blood is alive!
Redeemed by the Blood…
It doesn’t matter, beloved one, what you have done in the past. At times you may even still feel defeated, discouraged or depressed. But I want you to know, you are continually being purified. The blood of Yeshua is like a stream of water, just like an endless waterfall where the water just keeps on flowing, so is the blood of Jesus over our lives. The blood of Yeshua just keeps on coming. We are continuously being washed. We are always being transformed. We are endlessly going from glory to glory.
“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our wrongdoings, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:7).
Yeshua has purchased us by His blood and is progressively bringing us out of the darkness into His marvelous light.
So do not let the past keep you down. Do not let who you have been deny you from being who you are right now. Beloved, you have been redeemed!
The Real Battleground…
At times we may feel shame and defeat because of what others have said about us. The enemy will try to use this to keep us down and take us captive to his lies. If we are not conscious of the devil’s schemes, he will use what people think about us to beat us up.
But I want you to know it does not matter what people think about you and I. What we think people are thinking typically is not really what they are thinking anyway. Our real battle is in the spirit realm. That is why the Bible says:
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Eph. 6:12).
See, the fight is not in the natural realm. The real battles are the thoughts that the enemy tries to bombard our minds with. We have to recognize that many of the thoughts that enter our minds are disinformation coming at us from the realm of darkness. We have to resist thoughts that are self-defeating or are accusing towards others.

“We are destroying arguments and all arrogance raised against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ” (2 Cor. 10: 5).
“They conquered him (Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; love for life did not deter them from death” (Rev. 12:11).
Through the blood of Jesus and the knowledge and use of the Word of God, we overcome.
