Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado has won the Nobel Peace Prize after calls for Trump to take the grand award escalated following the end of the two-year Israel and Gaza war.
According to Fox News, chair of the Nobel Committee Joergen Watne Frydnes said that Machado won the award for “…her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy.”

While the U.S. president did not win the award, director of communications for the White House Steven Chueng said that Trump “will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives.” He further noted that the president, “…has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace.”
Trump received many nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize over the past few months. However, the cutoff date for nominations was Jan. 31. This means that the president could still win next year’s prize.
