In a recent episode of their podcast, John and Lisa Bevere spoke with Martin and Millicent Sedra, a couple now ministering globally after fleeing persecution in Egypt. The Sedras shared their concern that the Western church has grown complacent, trading boldness for comfort and ignoring the cost of true discipleship. They emphasized that the greatest threat to American Christianity is not an outside ideology alone but the church’s own unwillingness to confront sin, stand for righteousness and embrace the Holy Spirit’s power.

The conversation pointed to several dangers. They warned that Islam is advancing in the West through family growth while Western societies are weakening through abortion, declining birth rates and the loss of traditional roles. They lamented that men in the West are increasingly passive while pastors often avoid speaking against cultural sins such as sexual immorality and rebellion against God’s design. This silence, they argued, is eroding the church’s credibility and leaving communities spiritually defenseless.
At the same time the Sedras called Christians to action. They urged believers to strengthen families, raise children in the faith and refuse to compromise biblical truth for cultural acceptance. They pointed to their own story as refugees who became reformers, believing God has positioned them to sound a warning to the West.

For them, revival will only come when Christians recover their boldness, reject fear and embrace the truth without apology.
