Florida resident, Aidan Perry, may have literally saved his life after a shocking encounter at a friend’s apartment left him critically injured. Perry, a young man from Ocala, Florida, was accidentally shot in the chest at point-blank range, but miraculously survived—thanks, he says, to the gold cross pendant he was wearing.

The incident occurred when Perry visited a friend to watch a UFC fight. “I hadn’t been there five minutes and next thing I know, a gun is pointed at me and I’m shot in the chest,” he recounted. The terrifying moment could have ended tragically, but Perry’s cross, a gift from his father the previous Christmas, played an unexpected role. “I wore it every single day from the day I got it,” Perry explained.

Medical experts say the outcome was extraordinary. Dr. Dana Taylor explained, “If he wasn’t wearing that cross, the bullet would not have been deflected to the left where it went to his arm. It would have gone into his chest and probably caused devastating injury to his heart, possibly breaking vessels. It definitely would have been a different outcome.”
The mechanics of the bullet’s deflection are remarkable. As Dr. Taylor described, the bullet struck the cross, scoring it and redirecting its trajectory across Perry’s chest and into his arm, preventing fatal injury. “Each trauma case can be very unique,” she noted, “and when I looked at his chest…I knew that cross definitely changed the course of his life.”
Perry expressed gratitude for the life-saving intervention, acknowledging both the physical and spiritual significance. “My faith has definitely grown stronger. That’s what I wore the cross for—to represent my faith in Christ,” he said. When asked whether he believed in miracles, Perry’s response was unequivocal: “I do believe in miracles.”
While the cross itself was damaged in the process, Perry remains undecided about whether to repair it or replace it entirely. “I don’t know if I should put this one back together and wear it, get a new one, or leave this one broken. Everyone is telling me different things to do,” he shared.
