Tucker Carlson’s Aug. 11 interview with Orthodox nun Mother Agapia Stephanopoulos has sparked outrage from Christian leaders and pro-Israel voices. In the interview, Mother Agapia repeated a series of statements that were either false or grossly misleading, many of them echoing anti-Israel talking points long used by Palestinian propagandists.

Pastor Greg Locke, who is currently in Israel, reacted strongly on the social media platform X:
“Dear @TuckerCarlson, you’re an absolute fool if you think this paid actor represents Biblical Christianity. You’re a joke! I’m in Israel right this moment. You push lies to justify your Jew hate. GOD WILL BRING YOU LOW.”
Below are nine falsehoods identified by Israel365 News, with explanations of why each one is misleading or factually incorrect.
1. Misleading Claim About Checkpoints
Mother Agapia claimed Bethlehem Christians cannot go to Jerusalem without Israeli permits, but failed to mention that Israelis are banned from entering Bethlehem and other Palestinian Authority-controlled cities since the 1995 Oslo Accords II, after Jews were ethnically cleansed from those areas.
2. False “Canaanite” Ancestry Claim
She asserted Palestinians are the ancient Canaanites, implying they have the original claim to the land. Archaeology shows Jews are descended from Canaanites, while Palestinians are culturally Arabized Israelites.
3. Wrong on Christian Population in Israel
She implied Israel’s Christian population is shrinking. In reality, Israel’s Christian community grew by 1.3% in 2023, the only country in the Middle East with a growing Christian population, while Christian numbers have collapsed in Palestinian-controlled areas due to persecution and legal discrimination.
4. Whitewashing Hamas
Mother Agapia described Hamas as “a resistance movement” and denied that Oct. 7 was Islamic terror, calling it “the October event.” She portrayed Hamas as defending its people rather than committing terrorism, contradicting clear evidence of the massacre of over 1,200 Israelis.

5. Baseless Genocide Accusations
She accused Israel of committing “genocide” during the Second Intifada in 2002 and again today, without credible evidence to support the claim.
6. Holocaust Comparison and Road Access Lie
She compared the Holocaust to the Jerusalem–Bethlehem tunnel road project, calling it “a living death” and claimed Palestinians cannot use the road. In reality, Palestinians do drive on it, while Jews are barred from entering Palestinian-controlled areas due to safety risks.
7. Distorting the Church of the Nativity Siege
She blamed Israel for deaths during the 2002 siege but omitted the documented abuses by Palestinian terrorists who looted churches, abused clergy, desecrated holy items, and terrorized Bethlehem’s Christians.
8. Spreading Unverified Atrocity Claims
In 2002, she authored widely circulated emails accusing Israeli forces of rape, looting and killing infants during the siege accusations she later admitted she had not witnessed. None were substantiated.

9. Repeating Discredited Narratives
Even in the Carlson interview, she repeated discredited stories about Israeli conduct in Bethlehem while ignoring firsthand testimony from monks and priests who described Palestinian militants as the real perpetrators of violence and desecration.
A Call to Pray and to Watch
As troubling as these falsehoods are, Christians are reminded to pray for people like Tucker Carlson who promote anti-Israel narratives based on misinformation. The Bible warns that in the last days, the nations will turn against Israel:
“And it will be on that day that I will set Jerusalem as a weighty stone to all the peoples. All who carry it will surely gash themselves, and all the nations of the land will be gathered against it.” — Zechariah 12:3

Pray for discernment and truth in standing with God’s covenant people, knowing that the growing hostility toward Israel is a sign that prophecy is unfolding before our eyes.
