This Is the Presidential Candidate Israelis Say They Prefer

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton

Friday, the Israeli news portal Walla! released a poll that showed who a plurality of Israeli voters would prefer to be the next president of the United States.

According to the poll, Democrat front-runner Hillary Clinton was the choice of 38 percent of respondents. Meanwhile, 23 percent preferred Republican front-runner Donald Trump, while another 23 percent said they had no idea who they would prefer.

U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Vt.), who is Jewish, came in third place with 7 percent. Meanwhile, U.S. Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), who have both campaigned hard on standing up for Israel, rounded out the poll with 5 and 4 percent, respectively.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is virtually unknown to Israeli voters.

When they were asked whose policies would be better for Israel, however, Trump surged into first place with 25 percent, while Clinton fell to 24 percent. Sanders, Cruz and Rubio each garnered 6 percent.

Israel Today asked former Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Michael Oren for his thoughts on the poll results. He said he was not surprised at all.

“Hillary Clinton is a known commodity. The Clintons have always been popular here,” he said “Donald Trump, on the other hand, remains a very big question mark.”
