Too often we look at God’s warnings as a reason to fear. We may even resent the Bible for making us feel limited, judged or ashamed. Many people even dislike God warning man about hell. However, to warn someone of impending danger is a message of love. What lies ahead for those who haven’t repented should scare any rational person.
Hell is real; it is forever; it is eternal torment; and it is final! We should be most grateful for the warning. Instead, many people see it as a threat to their personal beliefs and sense of security…although unbiblical beliefs only provide us with a false sense of security.
Besides Jesus, the wisest man who ever lived was King Solomon. He said, “A prudent man foresees evil and hides himself; the simple pass on and are punished” (Prov. 27:12).
In life, we encounter dozens of warnings every single day. Heeding a warning could be the difference between life and death. Have you ever considered just a few of the warnings we have come to expect?
– Hurricane / wildfire warnings to vacate an area.
– Road signs that a bridge is out up ahead.
– Warning in bold print when we sign a contract.
– Temperature lights in a vehicle.
– Warnings before taking medications.
Likewise, there are hundreds of warnings throughout the Bible given to protect, preserve and instruct us. God also warns people using His prophets, through dreams and through visions. These are given because of God’s great love and mercy toward us.
Think for a moment about how God has spared you from loss or harm. Have you ignored His warnings? Are you spending time with God, reading His Word, praying and taking the time to listen before you start your day?
We truly are living in the last of the last days. We absolutely cannot afford to ignore God’s warnings.{eoa}
