Christine Caine says it took 50 years to overcome shame in her life—but she’s living proof that it can be done. In her new book, Unashamed, the renowned Bible teacher tackles the issue of shame, weaving anecdotes from her own life and other women’s lives to show how the devil uses shame to keep women in bondage.
In the book, Caine shares how she has grappled with the lies of the enemy throughout her life and how God has ultimately given her freedom from shame.
“The Word of God has healed my mind and saved my life,” Caine says. “So many lies of the enemy—it’s taken years to untangle them and replace them with the Word of God, even at my level, and I preach most days of my life. It forces me to be in the Word and to replace the lies of the enemy with the truth of God daily.”
For those who may be struggling with shame in their own life, Caine shares a few practical tips.
“I think the biggest thing is to receive the unconditional love and grace of God,” she says. “What Jesus has done for you is bigger than anything that has been done to you or that you’ve done to yourself. Get in a good community that can help walk you through dealing with those places you’ve locked God out of. … Bring the lie into the light of Christ and watch freedom come and reign. God is good, God does good, and God will work all things together for good. My life testifies to that.”
