THE RACISM DEBATE
I was glad to read the article “The Church’s Response to Racism” (by Steve Strang, Harry R. Jackson Jr. and Samuel Rodriguez, June). It is wonderful to see so many ministers praying and speaking out about the Trayvon Martin incident. Americans of all colors need to return to the godly principles in family values and depend on God and their churches for their needs, rather than on the government. We are all Americans, and as Christians we need to learn to love one another—and know that in Jesus we are not victims but victors!
If we are ever to succeed in ending discrimination then it must end in reconciliation, and that is something everyone should agree on. It is sad to see that so often those who have been enslaved, mistreated or discriminated against do exactly the same thing they hated when they come into power. But they justify themselves, and thus it never ends.

I was disappointed in your June edition. Do you really believe that the church can change the general course of our degenerate pop culture in society as a whole? It seems to me that the church needs to come alongside the black church and get in the “trenches” to bring hope and healing from whatever vestiges of racism do exist, one family at a time.
MORE MARKETPLACE, PLEASE!
It was wonderful to see “God’s Marketplace Move” by Jonathan Shibley (June). The move of the Holy Spirit in the marketplace is valid, significant and exciting. Please include more articles addressing this topic. People need to be encouraged to follow after what God is calling them to and the marketplace is a valid arena.

I appreciated reading Jack Hayford’s article “Speaking Blessings Upon Your Children” (June) and passed it on to my son. The tongue is by far the most powerful influence one can have on a child.
