Kelly’s Filmworks | Starring Christina Dawn Fougnie, Jefferson Moore, Tom Luce, J. Robert Bailey | $19.99

Clancy Miller (Christina Dawn Fougnie) is a young girl who suffers horrible abuse and is neglected by her mother. Yet her faith is strong and sustains her. But when authorities are notified of Clancy’s situation, she runs away so she won’t have to go into foster care.

On the streets she befriends Nick (Jefferson Moore), a bitter, homeless veteran. He’s not so crazy about having a little tagalong, but he sees that she needs looking after. Clancy and Nick develop a big brother-little sister-type relationship. He takes care of Clancy, and she shares her faith with him.

When word goes around town that a young girl has disappeared, Nick lets his police officer friend know he’s looking out for Clancy, the missing girl. When the corrupt mayor finds out, he sees the situation as an opportunity to help his re-election. He works it out to keep Clancy hidden so he can stage a “rescue” of the “missing girl” and be viewed as a hero by the townspeople. Unfortunately, the mayor’s scheme takes a wicked turn, and everyone’s lives are changed forever.

This dramatic story features scenes of physical abuse, drinking, smoking, war and corruption. And although it’s not too graphic, this film would be more suited for pre-teens and older. Clancy delivers a worthwhile message and offers points for discussion.
