Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. —2 Corinthians 1:21-22
In the early days of my journey of becoming more intimate with God, I struggled to feel His presence. I recall the day that I was in my office praying. I had been worshiping at His feet for about fifteen minutes when my secretary suddenly rang into my office. Annoyed at being distracted, I picked up the phone. My annoyance left as I listened to the caller’s words: “God says that you are to set Him as a seal upon your heart. He wanted you to know that right now.”

Sometimes, Lord, Your presence is so real to me that I feel as though I could reach out and touch You. But at other times the cares of this world and my own selfish desires keep me from being able to even sense Your presence. Teach me to enter that secret place of intimacy with You.
In this encounter with the Lord, the Holy Spirit
was revealing God’s heart and passion for me.
