Haitian Church Redeems Shuttered Strip Club

In a move to redeem some prime real estate in South Florida, a Haitian church took possession of a closed strip club.

Eglise Assemblee Evangelique de Christ in Boynton Beach, Fla., purchased a site that once housed the Platinum Showgirls club at 1115 N. Federal Highway for $600,000, according to the Palm Beach Post. The church has not held a service since Dec. 25, as work was being completed on the facility.

The problem: finances. Eglise Assemblee Evangelique de Christ spent all its money to buy the building and had been paying high rent at an interim facility. That left the church without money to wrap up the redemptive project.

Call it a divine intervention. Christ Fellowship, a Palm Beach Gardens megachurch, stepped in with a $12,000 donation to help the Haitian church complete the remodeling.

“Oh, Lord. I cannot explain it,” Dumont Pierre, pastor of Eglise Assemblee Evangelique de Christ, told the Palm Beach Post. “For us, we consider this as a miracle.”

The Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Association is applauding the church’s transformation of the former strip club.

“They’re cleaning it up really nice,” Boynton Beach Community Redevelopment Agency executive director Vivian Brooks told the Palm Beach Post. “The strip club was making a lot of money and couldn’t be bothered to put a single flower outside.”
