I married young after dropping out of school in the seventh grade. I had two sons, and with no real work experience, I floated along and did what I wanted to do.
Admittedly, my life was a mess. I knew I needed God, and I received Him in 1980, but I wasn’t ready to truly follow Him then.
Eventually, I earned my GED, went on to graduate from college and got into the medical field. I’ve been a registered nurse now for 14 years.
In 2003, I rededicated my life to God, and this time I began following Him. I started to believe that the Father had a unique plan for which He was preparing me, although I did not know what it was.
I began to understand that I am “fearfully and wonderfully made” (Ps. 139:14, NKJV), and that no matter what I had done, I am forgiven and loved. Even though I’d felt forsaken before, God was with me. In October 2003, He spoke to me and revealed to me what He wanted me to do.
God directed me to start a business for which He gave me the name, Scripture Scrubs. I was to manufacture and sell professional apparel for doctors, nurses, dentists and others—medical uniform tops on which would be written the Word of God and spiritual messages.
I did not feel worthy of this venture, nor did I have the kind of experience necessary to run such a business. I am a nurse, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. I live in a very small American town. I still wonder, Why would the Father choose me?
I know that all the hardships of my life were preparation for this time. Scripture Scrubs has been such a blessing. The products are sold over the Internet, and the response has been supernatural at times.
God is continuing to teach me to persevere in faith and to wait on Him. I can see how my past is fitting into the future He has for me.
It is great to realize that God can choose to pour out His love and blessings on someone like me. I give all praise to the Father for what He has done.
