Evidently there is a difference between good success and success. According to Joshua 1:8 NKJV, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.”
I believe good success is knowing that your success is based on the Word of God and that no man can take it away. God adds no sorrow to His blessings (Proverbs 10:22).
“Meditate on these things. Give yourself completely to them, that your progress may be known to everyone” (1 Tim. 4:15, MEV). Whatever you meditate on soon becomes a part of you. “Give yourself completely” means there is no halfway. We either serve God or Satan. Halfway-Christianity produces failure and disappointment.
Psalm 1:2-3 says, “But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season; its leaf will not wither, and whatever he does will prosper.” The man who meditates on God’s Word day and night fills his heart with life. God’s Word is spirit and life (John 6:63). Like a tree planted by the rivers of water, even in times of drought his leaf does not wither. He is connected to the source of life!
When your heart is full of God’s Word, you cannot fail. Proverbs 4:21-23 says, “Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their body. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” The person who finds and understands the secrets in these verses will be a success.
Whatever you put in your heart is going to bear fruit. Your words are stored in your heart. The words you speak are the fruit of your heart. Your heart speaks through your mouth! Isaiah 57:19 tells us that God creates the “fruit of the lips.”
The success of the seeds sown in your heart depends on you. You are the one who makes your way prosperous, according to Joshua 1:8. Whatever you meditate on will someday grow and become part of your speech. Whatever you believe in your heart will come forth through your lips and control you. Meditate on Matthew 12:33-37 for more understanding of the importance of your words.
Meditation and confession are the heartbeat of the gospel. You must first believe in your heart and confess with your mouth (Rom. 10:9-10).
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer” (Ps. 19:14).
Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:3, “But I fear that somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve through his trickery, so your minds might be led astray from the simplicity that is in Christ.” The simple fact is, your heart and your mouth are connected. Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” We speak what we believe in our heart, and it brings life or death to every situation in our lives: our marriages, finances, peace and joy.
Until this is settled in your heart, you are going to constantly be facing discouragement and disappointment. This is the cornerstone of Christianity, and until this becomes revelation to us, we will go around the mountain one more time.
