“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” (Matt. 16:24).
It can often feel like a walk in the dark when it comes to making important decisions. But that’s not what God intends for us. The reality is our Lion walks ahead of us leading the way—even if we don’t feel His presence. When we go through challenging situations that require big (or small) decisions, we need to listen for God’s guiding voice, knowing He has already made the way for us.
But how?
It can be hard to discern God’s voice from the many influences that undergird our direction—voices from our family, past and fear. If we choose to hear life-draining voices rather than the empowering voice of the Holy Spirit, we will miss out on the beautiful mystery He wants us to discover.
In order to hone in on His voice, we must read God’s Word. While the insights of other people are eye-opening, they just aren’t enough. Jesus is the Word made flesh, and as we strive to follow in His footsteps, God will give us revelations that lead to stability in His foundation. That stability leads to the courage needed to follow His path with peace.
Lovely one, will you accept His invitation to follow Him even if you’re afraid? When we act on faith, we step out of the familiar and into the unknown. There’s no greater adventure!
Let’s pray together: God, forgive me for the times I have declined your invitation to adventure. I want Your mystery, not my map. Forgive me for the times I listened to the wrong voices and neglected Yours. Where You choose to lead, I will follow. I am ready to rise up a lioness unafraid and multiply Your life in the lives of others.
