Matt Chandler, pastor of the Village Church, says that Paul’s teaching on meat sacrificed to idols in 1 Corinthians 8 can be applied today to the holiday of Halloween. He says anyone convicted not to celebrate should avoid it, but for those whose “conscience is clear,” he says there’s plenty of opportunity for evangelism. Chandler says, “We want to reject the evil aspect of it and redeem what’s good in it.” But he says it’s still important to set a couple ground rules for any Christians who want to celebrate Halloween.
