Speaker and artist Joseph Solomon recently warned followers in a vlog against elevating celebrity pastors or well-known theologians into the position of modern-day priests. He says these edifying podcasts, sermons, books and videos can become a snare for believers if they let their own spiritual walk be dictated by others. 1 Peter 2:9 says, “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession.” Solomon says this doesn’t mean we should reject others’ wisdom or that God can only speak to us individually, but it does mean “no one should ever assume the position of a priest in our hearts.” Watch his challenge here.
