“What should I wear today?” is a question many of us ask ourselves every day. From a natural standpoint it’s important to honor God in what we wear physically. However, it’s even more important that we know how to dress ourselves spiritually.

God’s Word tells us in Luke 12:35 that we should be dressed and ready for His service, with our lamps burning brightly.  So what does this mean?

How we dress determines whether we walk in victory or defeat.  God’s Word gives us guidelines for dressing in a way that enables us to stand strong, fight the good fight and be a light to the world. The following verses tell us what we should put on every day before we face the world.

Humility
“All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, ‘God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.’” —1 Pet. 5:5, NIV

Strength
“Awake, awake, O Zion, clothe yourself with strength.” —Is. 52:1

Praise
“The Lord has anointed me … to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” —Is. 61:3

God’s Armor
“Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” —Eph. 6:11

Righteousness
“Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” —Eph. 6:14

Jesus
“Clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” —Rom. 13:14

I encourage you to take time each morning to dress correctly and completely—outwardly and inwardly. Be sure you are clothed and adorned spiritually for the glory and the purposes of God. Dress to be ready to be used for His service.

You might consider putting this list on your bathroom mirror each day so you will be reminded of the truly important “garments.”

Ask the Lord to help you dress and adorn yourself both physically and spiritually in a way that glorifies Christ and prepares you to stand victorious in the fight.

PRAYER POWER FOR THE WEEK OF 11/1/2010

This week thank the Lord that He has already clothed you with His righteousness and that when He looks at you He sees you as one washed in His blood, without spot, blemish or wrinkle.  Thank Him for the cleansing power of His blood and that He’s given you garments of praise instead of mourning.  Praise Him that your destiny is secure in Him and that His thoughts and plans for you are perfect.  Continue to pray for our nation and for us, as believers, to accept the responsibility to pray and vote for candidates that will look to God for wisdom and direction in leading the country.  Remember to also pray that Israel would fulfill its role in these last days. I Peter 5:5; Isa. 61:3; Eph. 6:14.
