The Power of Pentecost After the Pandemic

Has a period in your life of spiritual emptiness left you with a greater desire for the fire of God? God wants to move us out of the captivity of our complacency through the power of a new Pentecost, especially after the devastation, trials and tribulations we have faced through the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of the scriptural secrets in the Word of God that prepares the way for Pentecost and transforms our understanding of the power of the Holy Ghost is described to us in Acts 1:4-5 (KJV).

The Scripture says that Jesus “commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father,” and He goes on to say, “For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.”

One might ask what the meaning of this is and why the Holy Spirit did not immediately come after Jesus ascended into heaven on the 40th day. In other words, why was there a period of waiting until the 50th day?

Well, in a literal sense of Scripture, the 50th day after the resurrection of Christ is the Hebrew Pentecost, Shavuot. But the Scripture is also trying to show us something by revealing to us a period of waiting that was endured.

You see, when we have a longing in our hearts and a desire in our prayers for the Holy Spirit to come upon our lives, He will come. This is because God wants us to long for Him and the power of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus describes this to us as He spoke about the fast of the bridegroom in Mark 2:19. Not only was He preparing His disciples for His departure to heaven and the sorrow that they would feel in their hearts once He left the earth, but He was also foreshadowing how they would be full again once the Holy Spirit comes upon them.

He said “Can the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast. But the days will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast in those days” (Mark 2:19-20, NKJV).

In a personal, powerful, prophetic sense, the term “bridegroom” that Jesus is using to refer to Himself describes for us a type of relationship. This relationship is that which is like a covenant between a bride and a bridegroom. The use of the term bridegroom is so powerful because it is showing for us the love and oneness in spirit that Jesus longs for us to long for.

After the experiences and hardship that we have all endured in one way or another during this pandemic, Jesus wants us to desire that oneness and cry out to Him through our prayers and in our hearts.

During this new Pentecost season, we have an opportunity for the Holy Ghost to transform our lives through this longing. In my latest episode of Day of Destiny on the Charisma Podcast Network, I discuss the scriptural secrets of the power of Pentecost. I believe this message will change your life and prepare you for the power of the Holy Ghost to come upon your life like never before. {eoa}
