Have you had an encounter with God? Do you want to have encounters with God? Sometimes His Word “comes alive” to you or you hear His voice or an angel is sent to you from our Heavenly Father with a message.
Our encounters with the Holy (that is with something that is from God, His Word, His Holy Spirit and/or angels that He sends) are for the purpose of growing us into His character—like Father, like son or daughter. He wants people to look at us and think he/she is just like his/her Father. Ultimately He wants to build us into mature sons and daughters, like the eighth chapter of Romans talks about.
Romans 8:14 (NKJV) says, “For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” That word “sons” refers to mature sons—sons that are old enough and mature enough with enough relationship with their fathers to be able to run the family business. They have worked alongside their fathers and they know how he thinks, how he conducts his business, how he treats his customers, etc. When the son has learned to conduct himself at that level, he is raised into the partnership and is given the checkbook. His signature on a contract is as good as his father’s.
That is what God is looking for in us. He wants us to have daily encounters with Him—to study His Word to learn how He conducts His kingdom and to spend time in worship and intimate communication with Him. He intends to restore us to His original plan. Adam walked in the glory before the fall. He walked with God daily; every day he was communing with Father, learning things from Him and working with Him. Jesus, the Second Adam, paid for us to get back to a daily “Garden of Eden” walk with Our Father.

(To clarify a comment in the podcast: “Noah went and took a wife, and he chose Naamah the daughter of Enoch…” —Jasher 5:15 (from The Authentic Annals of the Early Hebrews : Also Known as the Book of Jasher, edited by Wayne Simpson (Morris Publishing (NE), 1995). There is a great deal of controversy about the book of Jasher and there are various texts purporting to be it. The text to which we refer could possibly be genuine, although no one knows for sure. It is certainly interesting and provides possible historic scenarios to accompany the biblical narrative but should never be placed above the Bible in importance. The Bible refers to the book of Jasher in Joshua 10:13 and 2 Samuel 1:18.) {eoa}
