Blake Healy can see angels and demons as plainly as he can see in the natural. Usually he sees smaller demons taunting people with rejection and fear. But also recalls several times where he saw demons of witchcraft trying to attack him.
One night during a ministry trip in Africa, Healy stayed in a hotel and had a difficult time falling asleep.
“All of a sudden, I just had this fear pop in me that I was going to get sick, that I was going to catch some kind of bad disease or something like that,” he says. “I opened my eyes and looked, and above me, I saw what looked like a person wearing this kind of exaggerated version of a witch-doctor outfit. They were standing over me with a spear, and as soon as I looked up, there was a loud sound, a hissing, screeching yell.”
Healy says the demon thrust its spear down toward him, but a bright light streaked past, and the demonic figure disintegrated.
“[The light] was an angel … now standing at the side of my bed,” Healy says. “I found out the next day that … a group of witch doctors or just people who are involved in witchcraft came by to pray against what we were doing on that particular trip.”
Healy has found that fear often accompanies a spirit of witchcraft. But the way to handle it, he says, may not be what many Spirit-filled believers expect.
