Dr. Joelle Suel believes that God is “teaching us in this season, to really recognize Him, to grow in the knowledge of who Jesus is.” His revelation to us may be harder to discern than we may think, and Suel recognizes that there are other spirits at work to dissuade us from the truth of the gospel.
On this episode of The Glorious Truth on the Charisma Podcast Network, Dr. Suel breaks down how to discern the voice of God amidst the onslaught of noise distracting us from Him.
When discerning the spirits, Dr. Suel says there are a few questions we must ask, including “Does this contradict the gospel?” She says, “You have to ask yourself, ‘Is what I’m hearing contradicting any part of that? … Does it line up with the Scripture? Does it line up with what the Word of God says?'”
When Dr. Suel was learning how to discern the voice of God, she said she “felt so heavy. I feel like someone is taking a big bag of trash and threw it on me. And when I first started feeling that, I was questioning myself, I was examining myself wondering what’s wrong with me. But then the Holy Spirit started showing me in teaching that I have to test the spirits and guard the spirits and to discern and shake those things off me.
“We have to know for ourselves so that when things come to us, we have to be able to be recognize [it and say], ‘No, that’s not of God. That’s not the God that I know.”
She believes God is telling us, “Above all, look for My presence; look for what gives you faith.”
