Today, the body of Christ is often lead astray by false preachers with false doctrine. They are seduced by the charismatic words of some who truly do not know or understand the Bible. Many in the body of Christ are easy prey for seduction because they only want to have their itchy ears satisfied by things that sound good. In this article, we will uncover the definitions, dangers and damaging doctrines being embraced by many.
Jesus said in Mark 13:22 (JUB), “For false Christs and false prophets shall rise and shall show signs and wonders to seduce, if possible, even the elect.”
Second Timothy 3:13 makes a frightening statement. It says, “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.”
First Timothy 4:1 (KJV) is where we find the words, “seducing spirits.” It says, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly that in the latter times, some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils.” In this verse, the Holy Spirit is saying that during these last days, many believers will be led astray from the Word of God as a result of being deceived by spirits that are not of God and are demons from Satan through false doctrines. In other words, there are actually demonic spirits in the church that are distorting the Word of God with the end result of changing the Word of God. Many will leave the basic tenets of Christianity to follow and abide by the false doctrine of the devil himself.
Definitions for Bewitched
In studying the subject of witchcraft, I’ve found some interesting definitions for the word “witchcraft,” including a constant reference to the term “bewitchment.” Here are a few of the definitions:
1. an opening, such as a door, passage or gate that allows access to a place;
2. to captivate, to beguile, to curse, to seduce, to mislead;
3. to confuse, amaze, to fascinate by false representation, to make someone feel so interested or attracted that they cannot think clearly; a soul controlling form of sorcery.
As you can see, witchcraft produces a bewitchment that leads to deception, beguilements and mind control. Such was the case in the church of Galatia. They had been seduced by the false doctrines of Judaizers that presented doctrines that misaligned with the doctrines set forth by the Lord’s apostles. Such is the case today. Twisted scriptures, occultism and polytheistic views have opened the door to the deception of many in our day.
In my next article, we will continue our study on the effects of witchcraft by taking a deep look in Acts 13. In this record, Paul summarizes beautifully the essence of the practitioners of sorcery. Please read the entire chapter in preparation. Until next time…be blessed!! {eoa}
